Tesla’s lead engineer for the Cybertruck, Wes Morrill, confirmed the rollout of a hands-free frunk feature, introduced in the 2024.32 Software Update, offering easier access for owners.
Tesla Lead Engineer Confirms Frunk for Cybertruck
Wes Morrill, Tesla's lead engineer for the Cybertruck program, has verified that the hands-free frunk, which is a feature that has been desired by a large number of customers for a long time and was ultimately enabled by Tesla with the 2024.32 Software Update, is now being rolled out to the all-electric pickup.
On the other hand, the Cybertruck is a whole separate species, despite the fact that it is a highly helpful function that applies to all Tesla vehicles.
Automated Hood Makes Frunk Access Easier
The power frunk of the pickup truck allows the hood to open completely without any intervention from a human being. Additionally, the hood can transition from being completely closed to being completely open without the driver ever needing to prop it up on their own.
It is said by Morrill that:
"Particularly useful on Cybertruck since the frunk is powered! Ultra-Wideband radio waves and multiple end points around the vehicle pinpoint your phone location. Currently ~45% of the time the Frunk is opened using the exterior button. What do you think the rate will be now?"
Cybertruck’s Frunk Proves Most Useful in Tesla Fleet
Because of this, it is possible to argue that it is more beneficial on the Cybertruck than it is on any other vehicle in the Tesla series.
According to the initial report by Teslarati, it was being implemented on the most recent iterations of the Model 3, which include the Highland, Model S, and Model X.
