The first official trailer and other teasers for “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection” (or “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection”) have been revealed. It was confirmed that the sequel anime feature is set to premiere next year.
Bandai published the first official trailer for the film “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection” via YouTube last Friday. The video runs for a total of 28 seconds, so nothing much was revealed about the plot, which is also a good thing for fans.
Meanwhile, ComicBook commented that the “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection” trailer was enough to let fans know that it will introduce an entirely new story. Nevertheless, the upcoming anime feature film is expected to pick up during the events that were included in the compilation trilogy.

The franchise started as an anime series called “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” in 2006. With a total of two installments, the series had 50 episodes in all. Then, in 2016, the creators of the “Code Geass” franchise celebrated the 10th anniversary of the first anime series by announcing a new trilogy film project.
It was referred to as a compilation anime film series. It practically “compiles” events based on the 50 episodes of “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” seasons 1 and 2. The first part of the compilation trilogy came out in October 2017, titled “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion — The Awakening Path.” It was followed by “The Rebellion Path” last February, while the third installment premiered in May and was titled “The Imperial Path.”
The “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” had a fine ending in its second anime series installment. However, the release of the new trilogy film opened new possibilities and stories for the franchise, which brings fans to the release of “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection” via a retcon approach to the franchise’s story. This means that fans can expect an entirely new timeline and stories while retaining the original characters.
The sequel “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection” is now set for a February 2019 release in Japan. Meanwhile, the trilogy compilation films are also set to arrive in North America after Funimation acquired the license to release them in the region. A deal of the same nature for the sequel film is yet to be announced.
