Chick-fil-A just expanded its reach by opening its first franchise-owned store in Puerto Rico. It was reported that the branch was officially launched last week and is located at 250 Calle A Minillas Industrial Park in Bayamón, PR.
As per QSR Magazine, Chick-fil-A chose Caitlin Chavez as the independent operator of Chick-fil-A Los Filtros. She is the first operator in Puerto Rico and was a former team member of the restaurant before becoming a franchise owner.
She will be supervising all the daily activities of the restaurant as well as responsible for hiring at least 150 part-time and full-time staff. Chavez will also handle relationships with other neighboring businesses and organizations in the territory.
The Chick-fil-A in Bayamon will be operating with limited dining capacity, carry out, and drive-thru. This is due to the company’s safety protocols related to COVID-19. The brand added that it is committed to making restaurant visits safe for all customers thus, the protocols have been put in place and strictly followed.
At any rate, it was in December 2021 when Chick-Fil-A first announced its plans to open a store in Puerto Rico. Once the first store is up, the company will be building 10 to 15 restaurants more over the next five years.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to serve the people of Puerto Rico,” Chick-fil-A’s director of operations, Ryan Holmes, said in a press release at that time. “Puerto Rico is known for its culture, history, and sense of community. This mirrors the Chick-fil-A commitment to investing in people and communities, and we are excited about the opportunity to grow in Puerto Rico with people who have a passion for service and hospitality.”
To celebrate the launch of Chick-fil-A’s first store in Puerto Rico, the fast-food chain will be donating $200,000 to Banco de Alimentos Puerto Rico to help people who have no food security and provide support for disaster relief as well.
Meanwhile, the newly-opened Chick-fil-A owned by Chavez has also joined the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program. Through this, the Bayamon branch will be able to extend help to local communities to fight hunger. It will be bringing surplus food from the store to soup kitchens, food banks, and shelters.
