Chick-fil-A fast food restaurant chain that specializes in chicken sandwich offerings is pulling out one food item from its menu, which turned out to be a favorite of many customers. As a result, many diners were upset by the decision.
Chick-fil-A has been selling the side salad of mixed greens with grape tomatoes and Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses for years, and unfortunately, the restaurant is removing this from the menu list next month. Starting April 3, the side salad will no longer be available in the restaurant, and it will be permanently off the menu.
According to Fox Business, the salad is prepared fresh at the stores every day and served with a choice of dressing. Many customers enjoyed this as a pairing for their sandwiches or eaten by itself with just a drink. Those who are on a diet or prefer veggies for their meal usually order this at Chick-fil-A locations, but now it will be gone for good.
In place of the discontinued veggie side salad, the restaurant chain is upping the size of its Kale Crunch Side, which will now be sold in large sizes. The company said this could serve as an alternative for some customers. Moreover, for people who want more salad options, Chick-fil-A said they could just go for the Cobb Salad, Market Salad, or Spicy Southwest Salad, which are on the menu.
"Serving guests is at the heart of all we do at Chick-fil-A," the restaurant told Fox News. "In order for our Restaurant Team Members to continue to deliver quality food and signature hospitality, at times we have to make difficult decisions to help simplify our menu."
Meanwhile, the pullout of Chick-fil-A’s side veggie salad was met with negative reactions from customers. Many of them are not happy about It, and their disappointments were expressed via social media.
In response to Chick-fil-A’s announcement, some customers wrote on Twitter, “Well, I know many people, including me that the ONLY food items bought are nuggets with the side salad, now no reason anymore to buy Chick-Fil-A."
One customer directly asked the restaurant why it was removing the salad. “I just heard that you are giving up on side salad. I love that side salad I’m so sad..why??
To this, Chick-fil-A wrote in reply, “Thanks for reaching out. Chick-fil-A is always evaluating its menu offerings and recently made the decision to remove the Side Salad starting April 3. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future!”
