Washington, D.C., Aug. 07, 2017 -- Chemonics International welcomes the U.S. Senate’s unanimous confirmation of Ambassador Mark Green as the 18th Administrator of USAID. As a distinguished career public servant and diplomat, Ambassador Green brings extensive experience in international development and diplomacy to the agency.

Ambassador Green served as U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Wisconsin, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. While in Congress, Ambassador Green helped draft and pass legislation to create the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). He will leave his most recent role as President of the International Republican Institute to assume his position at USAID.
"Ambassador Green has a proven record of commitment to international development priorities, and no one is more qualified to lead the agency at a time when we’re facing some of the world’s toughest development challenges," said Chemonics’ President and CEO Susanna Mudge. "Due to four famines, more than 20 million people are currently at risk of starvation, and 5.9 million children under the age of 5 are dying each year, largely from preventable causes. Smart U.S. engagement is critical, and Ambassador Green’s leadership will no doubt advance strategic foreign policy goals. Chemonics warmly welcomes Ambassador Green and looks forward to working with him to tackle these global issues."
