Carrie Underwood wanted to make it very clear recently that she did not electively undergo plastic surgery to have her face changed. The “Cry Pretty” singer needed to make sure that her fans did not make the wrong assumptions as to why her face looked slightly different. It was reportedly due to an accident that gave her 50 stitches.
Recently appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Carrie Underwood revealed the reason why she wanted to come clean with regards to her accident. She also provided details as to exactly what happened and why she needed her face stitched as a result.
“I kind of fell up steps a little bit,” Underwood told Ellen. “I kind of tripped before I got there, and then the step was kind of the problem. If it had been flat ground, I would’ve been fine.
“It was one of those random things. In life, I feel like we all kinda have some unexplainable randomness that happens sometimes. I feel good now.”
As for why Carrie Underwood felt the need to disclose these details to the public, it would appear to be motivated by fears of being judged by her fans. As The Huffington Post reports, the singer caught people’s attention earlier in the year when she announced that her face was “not quite looking the same.” This prompted speculation that she underwent plastic surgery.
Carrie Underwood stressed that she did not go under the knife nor were the changes to her face as a result of a voluntary act of vanity on her part. The country singer did also make it clear that she was feeling better and that the changes to her appearance were not a big issue.
“It definitely was not a choice,” she explained. “But I feel close to myself. I feel pretty close to normal.”
