Following Netflix’s announcement that “Carmen Sandiego” Season 2 has been greenlit for a second run, the streaming giant has remained mum about the animated show’s return. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if it comes at the tail end of 2019 given how Netflix handles its other animated series, Screen Rant reported.
So what’s going to happen in “Carmen Sandiego” Season 2? As the show’s main premise, several locations across the globe will be featured in the next installment with an emphasis on Carmen’s (Gina Rodriguez) background and the relationship she’s going to have with Shadow-san (Paul Nakauchi).
In the previous entry, it was revealed that it wasn’t Coach Brunt (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) who discovered the master thief by the side of an Argentina road. It was Shadow-san. What’s more, the V.I.L.E. faculty was also revealed to have a caring nature towards Carmen, breaking the initial belief that the hardened Japanese man was out to harm the red-haired protagonist. So, “Carmen Sandiego” Season 2 is expected to have both characters meet and dispel the air of confusion surrounding Shadow-san’s intentions.
Meanwhile, ACME will be dogging the master thief as its leader is still convinced that she is part of the super-secretive V.I.L.E. Detective Chase Devineaux (Rafael Petardi) and Julia Argent (Charlet Chung) will be spearheading the investigation. It’s still unclear, however, if “Carmen Sandiego” Season 2 will finally have Argent prove her theory that the girl in red is actually out to take down V.I.L.E.
Lastly, the mystery surrounding the Russian nesting dolls – the only possession of the master thief – is also expected to be explored. In short, “Carmen Sandiego” Season 2 will dive deeper to the main character’s history, where she came from, and the secrets shrouding her origin. As for when fans can expect the trailer to be released, it’ll likely land on the third quarter of this year although this is merely speculation at this point, Digital Spy reported.
