The royal love triangle between Camilla Parker Bowles, now officially Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Charles, and the late Princess Diana remain to be one of the most interesting subjects among fans of the British royal family. While the public may have different opinions on how that ended, most people are probably curious at the current relationship of Camilla with Queen Elizabeth II.

There are claims that Camilla and Prince Charles first met in 1970 and later started a romantic relationship. It is believed that they had a serious relationship at the time though they dated briefly compared to his other relationships. A clear indication of their breakup was her marriage to British army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973 that ended in divorce in 1995.

However, recent reports have it that Camilla and Prince Charles remained very close friends even after she got married. It is being claimed that Camilla’s advice was likely one of the many that ultimately convinced the heir apparent to the British throne to propose to Princess Diana.

The so-called “Camillagate” happened in 1993 where tapped intimate phone calls between Camilla, and Prince Charles were leaked to the public — the latter was only divorced from Princess Diana in 1996. The Parker Bowles couple also got divorced after that.

Camilla and Prince Charles started going out publicly again in the early 2000s that led to their marriage in 2005. Given their entangled past, their union was deemed controversial, but they had the blessing of Her Majesty, nonetheless.

Today, Camilla is regularly seen alongside Queen Elizabeth II especially during official events and royal engagements. That is one clear proof that they have a good relationship going, though, it did not use to be this way. Daily Express reports there was a time when Her Majesty purportedly did not allow Camilla to set foot in the Buckingham Palace, no matter what the event was.
