“Brooklyn Nine-Nine's” season 6 has been on fans' waitlists since the show's renewal earlier this year. The show has been the model renewal for canceled shows of 2018. Initially canceled by Fox after season 5, the show was saved by NBC just in time to produce “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6. But fans know that the show is not out of the woods yet.
While the much-beloved police sitcom was saved from Fox's cancellation, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 has only been renewed for a shortened season, with 13 episodes rather than the show's usual 22 episode seasons. The shortened order may be a sign of NBC playing safe with the series' return, or simply a logistical issue considering that the show is targetting a mid-season comeback with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 rather than a fall of 2018 broadcast date.
The mid-season target means that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 will be broadcasted after Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas – holidays which are heavily featured in the show's past seasons. Thankfully, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine's” executive producer, Dan Goor, mentions that even if this is the case, fans will still get to enjoy episodes from season 6, which feature the show's beloved gags.
Aside from Dan Goor's assurance that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 will be a better show despite its contracted episode count, fans can look forward to the show's loveable cast returning for season 6. In addition, “Jane the Virgin's” Gina Rodriguez is in negotiations with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” to see if she will reprise her recurring role as Alicia, Detective Rosa Diaz's (Stephanie Beatriz) new love interest in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 5.
Due to the mid-year pickup by NBC, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 has yet to have an exact confirmed broadcast date for its premiere episode aside from assurance that the show will return mid-season.
