As the successor to the widely consumed “Naruto” and “Naruto: Shippuden” animes, the “Boruto” anime is already enjoying quite the following from fans of its parent shows. Now, the hugely popular program is about to see even bigger rating numbers with a recent timeslot change. Instead of being a weekday anime, it has now been moved up to a weekend schedule.
As Comicbook.com reports, the “Boruto” Anime used to occupy the Thursday timeslot in Japan, at 7:25 p.m. JST. This is the same timeslot that “Naruto” held and it was still wildly popular during its day. It seems this is just not enough for the producers, however, and they want an even bigger audience for the show.
This is why the “Boruto” Anime is now being moved to the Sunday timeslot, which is between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. JST. In terms of the impact this will have on the ratings, it’s simply going to be huge since it will now become a lot more accessible. Weekdays are usually reserved for school and homework, after all. As such, many kids are unable to watch as much anime as they want.
Weekends are a different matter since more children are allowed to watch anime. In fact, this change in the “Boruto” anime timeslot appears specifically intended to make watching it a family activity. As such, the jump in ratings that it will likely see will be huge.
As Otaku Art notes, adjusting to the new timeslot is going to be a bit difficult for some fans. After all, this change will not only affect Japanese viewers but those from other countries as well. By moving the timeslot of the “Boruto” Anime to Sunday evening, this would mean that a worldwide release will change as well. Viewers will cope in time, but some fans will likely miss a few episodes by simply being unaware of the change.
