This week, The CW released the first-look trailer of its latest DC Comics superhero adaptation, “Black Lightning.” The trailer is quite an interesting, action-packed spectacle.
The upcoming show, which is the fifth of the network following “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” is expected to debut during the midseason break right after the other shows’ next runs, Den of Geek said. “Black Lightning” follows the life of Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), who is trying to leave his superhero days behind and living an alternative one as a boring charter high school professor and a father of two daughters.
The rest of the synopsis read, “Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.”
“Black Lightning was a savior who kept our streets and our schools safe. He was hope personified, but he was also Jefferson Pierce, my father,” one of his daughters said in the video.
Daily Dot noted that “Black Lightning” is billed as a standalone film, but fans could not help but wonder if the other DC Comics superheroes who are on The CW show lineup would do a crossover. The site said it could possibly happen, considering the fact that the network did a “Supergirl” and “The Flash” crossover.
