AMC's recent preview trailer for the second episode of the “Breaking Bad” spin-off “Better Call Saul” has shown just how close season 4 is to the original story. The series has slowly been inching towards the state of the criminal empire that fans of “Breaking Bad” are familiar with.
The preview shows Jimmy McGill, better known as Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), looking for a job. It is made abundantly clear in the trailer that Jimmy no longer has a license to practice his legal expertise. Jimmy's girlfriend, Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), tells the distraught former lawyer to take some time off – the implications of which are left to the viewers' imaginations.
Aside from what appears to be stress and strain affecting Jimmy after Chuck McGill's recent death, the teaser also previews Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis) in a hospital bed with what appears to be Nacho Varga (Michael Mando) conspiring against the aging crime lord. This may explain the almost immobile state of Salamanca that fans of the “Breaking Bad” series initially got introduced to. This is an exciting prospect to finally understand how the man was wheelchair-bound when he was introduced in the first place.
It also seems that Giancarlo Esposito's Gus Fring will be taking center stage in the crime lord's current incapacity. It would be interesting for fans to speculate if this is another of Fring's plots being unveiled or if the restaurant owner and meth distributor plays other parts in the cartel's power structure. Jonathan Banks' Mike Ehrmantraut looks to be getting some action in the episode too.
For fans of “Better Call Saul” who haven't been able to grab some time off to watch the series lately, the fourth season's episode 2 just aired this Aug. 13 on AMC. The same episode will be released today on Netflix.
