Bajaj Finance shares climbed 3.4% on Monday after the Indian non-bank lender reported robust growth in assets under management (AUM) and continued expansion of its loan portfolio during the September quarter.
The company’s assets under management reached approximately 584,750 crore Indian rupees as of Sept. 30, representing a 26.5% increase from 462,261 crore rupees in the same period a year earlier, according to a stock exchange filing.
Bajaj Finance also recorded a substantial increase in lending activity during the second quarter of fiscal 2027. Its loan book expanded by roughly 37,800 crore rupees during the three-month period, highlighting continued demand for the company’s financing products.
New loan bookings remained strong, with Bajaj Finance originating 13.45 million loans during the quarter. That marked an 11% increase from 12.17 million loans booked during the corresponding period last year.
The lender noted that the year-over-year comparison was influenced by the timing of India’s festival season, which began earlier in the previous year. Festival periods typically generate increased consumer spending and demand for financing across the country.
Bajaj Finance’s customer base also continued to expand, reaching 128.85 million at the end of September compared with 110.64 million a year earlier. The company added 4.42 million customers during the September quarter alone, further strengthening its position in India’s consumer and retail lending market.
Meanwhile, deposits at Bajaj Finance stood at approximately 69,750 crore rupees as of Sept. 30. Deposits remain an important funding source for the lender as it continues to grow its loan portfolio and assets under management.
The strong quarterly operating update helped lift investor sentiment toward Bajaj Finance stock, with shares gaining 3.4% on Monday. The increase in AUM, new loans and customers signals sustained business momentum as the lender moves through fiscal 2027.
