OKXICE, a joint venture between cryptocurrency exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to launch a tokenized securities platform offering round-the-clock trading in U.S. stocks.

According to the Sunday filing, the platform plans to make shares of more than 60 publicly listed companies available for trading 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The initiative would use blockchain technology to expand investor access beyond traditional U.S. stock market hours.

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, co-chair of OKXICE, described the filing as a major development for global financial markets.

“This is a landmark step toward a truly global, 24/7 Wall Street,” Cuomo said in a post on social media platform X.

The filing follows a significant shift in U.S. securities regulation. Last month, the SEC introduced an exemption allowing companies to provide trading in blockchain-based, or “tokenized,” stocks and other securities. The regulatory change could accelerate efforts by cryptocurrency companies and traditional financial institutions to integrate blockchain technology with established capital markets.

The SEC announcement came two days after comprehensive cryptocurrency legislation supported by U.S. President Donald Trump failed to advance in the Senate.

OKXICE is entering an increasingly competitive market as major global exchanges explore extended trading hours. The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and the London Stock Exchange are among the operators preparing to introduce round-the-clock trading in the coming months as investor demand for continuous access to financial markets grows.

Tokenized stocks represent traditional securities through blockchain-based digital tokens, potentially enabling faster settlement, broader global accessibility and trading outside conventional market schedules.

However, the expansion of alternative trading models is also attracting regulatory scrutiny. Prediction markets have recently pushed further into U.S. stock trading, raising concerns among regulators about how new platforms should operate within existing securities rules.

The OKXICE filing highlights the accelerating convergence between cryptocurrency infrastructure and traditional finance as exchanges compete to build platforms capable of supporting 24/7 access to U.S. equities.
