BTS will soon have their female girl group juniors as their agency, Big Hit Entertainment is set to hold global auditions to create another supergroup. The audition will also be done with its newly-acquired Source Music that houses GFRIEND.
It was reported that the auditions will be held in 16 key cities worldwide and some of the countries included in the list are Australia (Melbourne), Japan (Tokyo), and America’s New York and Los Angeles. Of course, locals may also audition as they will also hold one in Seoul.
When will the girl group debut?
It was revealed that BTS’ CEO Bang Si Hyuk together with Big Hit’s chief brand officer Min Hee Jin will personally supervise the plannings for the new girl group. They shared that their aim is to have the new trainees debut by 2021.
“CEO Bang Si Hyuk will oversee production including music producing while CBO Min Hee Jin will lead the creative direction and branding that encompasses concept, video and image,” the agency said in a statement via Forbes. “The two companies (Big Hit and Source Music) plan to fully utilize their capacities in launching the next-generation girl group backed by the know-how accumulated home and abroad.”
Big Hit boss shares what he thought about BTS when they debuted
BTS is currently the company’s biggest artists. The group was labeled as the World’s biggest boy band today and the highest-paid in 2019 as well. For the most part, the band earns through their sold-out concert tours, shows, album sales and recently, movie ticket sales.
But BTS also struggled before reaching this overwhelming success however, Bang said that he knew early on that his boys will be one of the biggest boy bands out there. Speaking with Variety, the Big Hit boss said that he felt BTS will make it big when they released “Run” in 2015 and was received positively then they followed this up with “Fire” and the group immediately gained attention overseas.
“Thinking back on it, I may have been too confident, but I told the members that I think they may have a shot at doing a global arena tour, and that I hoped they could become a group that was bigger than One Direction in their prime,” he said.
