LEXINGTON, S.C., Oct. 13, 2017 -- Michael Branning, CEO of Avtec Inc., the leading independent provider of mission-critical voice dispatch consoles in North America, named board member Arjen Maarleveld the new company president on Oct. 9, 2017. The appointment came after former president Kevin Williams announced his decision to step down from his position to start a business venture. To ensure a smooth transition, Williams will remain with Avtec until mid-2018.
As president of Avtec, Maarleveld will have responsibility for sales, marketing, business development, engineering, product management, customer support, and professional services. “Avtec works in markets undergoing rapid technology changes while demand for our products and services continues to accelerate. These factors require that we position the company for growth. Arjen brings the right skills at the right time to help us pivot towards the future,” said Branning.
Maarleveld has served on the Avtec board of advisors for the past three years, and brings executive experience from the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and telecommunications sectors. His professional career spans technical, business development, and operations functions. He served in leadership positions for various high-tech companies in Europe, Silicon Valley, and New Zealand, including Oracle, Apple, Telecom New Zealand, Alcatel, France Telecom, and Esko. Most recently, he held the CEO position at Vega, a global leader in high performance navigational aids, where he led a significant turnaround of the company. Prior to joining Vega, he was the chief operating officer for Tait Communications, a leading global provider of LMR and communications solutions.
