A new superhero series will be coming to the small screen soon, thanks to the Russo Brothers.
Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed “Captain America: Civil War” and the upcoming “Avengers” installation will reportedly produce a show based off Valiant Comics’ world’s worst super-duo, the Wrap reports. “Quantum and Woody” will also be co-produced by Mike Larocca and Valiant Entertainment’s Dinesh Shamdasani, along with “Ant-Man” veterans Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. Barrer and Ferrari will be writing the show’s pilot.
No details yet about the cast, or when the show is expected to premiere.
A synopsis about the comic book characters is available on Den of Geek, which read, "Once upon a time, Eric and Woody Henderson were inseparable. Adopted brothers. Best friends. Brilliant minds. Years later, they are estranged siblings, petty rivals, and washed-up failures. But when their father’s murder leads them into the throes of a life-altering accident, Eric and Woody will find themselves with a whole new purpose – and a perfectly legitimate reason to wear costumes and fight crime. Go big or go home, folks! Quantum and Woody are coming!"
Vulture provides a more apt description of the characters, and how they got their powers and their reputation as the world’s worst superheroes:
“Their adventures are a riff on The Defiant Ones, one in which two mismatched men — a nobly responsible black man named Eric and a wildly irresponsible white one named Woody — find themselves linked by powerful bracelets that grant superpowers but also require the wearers to “klang” them together at regular intervals. They also have a goat.”
The show would not be the Russo Brothers’ first foray into television, or comedy, for that matter . They won Emmys for their work on “Arrested Development” and “Community.”
