‘Aquaman’ is expected to begin production in Australia some time in 2017. Actress Amber Heard, who plays Jason Momoa’s love interest in the film, is reportedly happy preparing for her role in London despite her divorce from husband Johnny Depp.
According to Comicbook.com, filming for director James Wan’s upcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) standalone film ‘Aquaman’ is scheduled to take place in Australia sometime in January 2017.
Although no official confirmation has been made of the shoot’s actual location, it was speculated that production will take place at the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast in Queensland and will begin pre-production before the Christmas season. Filming will also be taking place at Warner Bros.' Studio Leavesden in London.
According to The Daily Mail, actress Amber Heard was spotted having a run at a park in northwest London. She is reportedly undergoing some physical training for her role as the undersea warrior queen Mera alongside Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman. Heard reportedly moved to London for her various film roles.
The 30-year old actress seemed to be adjusting well despite the breakdown of her marriage with Johnny Depp. According to the Mirror, a source revealed, "She is an actress and wants to just focus on work now. She loves living in London. She is excited about working there and spending time with friends."
The source added, "She seems very happy and relieved to be away from LA. She doesn't talk much about Johnny and instead seems happy that she is moving forward."
Heard met Depp during filming of their film ‘The Rum Diary’ back in 2011. They then got married at a private ceremony no February 2015. Eventually, Heard filed for divorce on May 2016 and obtained a temporary restraining order after accusing Depp of being physically and verbally abusive.
She previously announced that the $7 million she will be receiving from the divorce settlement will be donated to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union.
‘Aquaman’ is an upcoming action-adventure and science-fiction film scheduled to be released on July 27, 2018. It is directed by James Wan and written by Will Beall. It is produced by Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder and executive produced by Rob Cowan.
The film is intended as the seventh installment in the DCEU and follows the release of Rick Famuyiwa’s ‘The Flash’.
