Apple has introduced the next generation of MacBook Air, featuring the M3 chip, enhancing its performance by 60% over the M1 model. These new models also boast Wi-Fi 6E, improved video streaming, and support for two external displays. Starting at $1,099, the MacBook Air is available for pre-order, with deliveries beginning March 8.
Apple Announces New MacBook Air Models With M3 Chip
Apple claims that the new MacBook Air is 60% quicker than the M1 model and 13 times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air, MacRumors reported. Apple says that the MacBook Air remains the top consumer notebook for AI due to its improved and quicker Neural Engine. The device also has an AV1 decoding engine to enhance the efficiency and quality of video from streaming providers.
The new MacBook Air has the M3 processor, Wi-Fi 6E, Voice Isolation, Wide Spectrum microphone settings, improved voice clarity in audio and video chats, and a Midnight color option with a more fingerprint-resistant surface. The laptop now supports up to two external monitors when the lid is closed, compared to the previous Apple silicon versions, which only supported one external display.
Pre-orders for the new MacBook Air begin today, and orders will be delivered to consumers on Friday, March 8. The product is still offered in Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray, and Silver colors, beginning at $1,099.
Apple Discontinues MacBook Air With M1 Chip
Apple has ceased production of the MacBook Air with the M1 processor, which was introduced in November 2020 as one of the initial Apple silicon Macs.
The MacBook Air range in the U.S. includes the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip priced at $999, the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip priced at $1,099, and the 15-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip priced at $1,299.
