The AMD Zen 2 has finally been unveiled to the world confirming the various rumors surrounding the CPU and how it’s going to be pushing the boundaries of computer performance from here on out. Following the reveal, the company’s stock has seen a 10 percent increase as investors are more than satisfied with what’s been presented during the Computex 2019, TechRadar reported.
But it’s not just investors who are seeing a bright future for AMD as market analysts also hold a similar sentiment as well. Indeed, the price of the AMD Zen 2 9 series is enough to make Intel shake in its boots as it’s priced at $499, half the cost of Intel's Core i9 9920X that is tagged with $1,189.
Add the fact that the performance of the flagship CPU is delivering far more efficient output compared to its competitor and it’s unsurprising that everyone is favoring AMD at the moment. The AMD Zen 2 3900x has 4.6 GHz speed and 70 MB total cache.
Its power output is at 105 watts, a 60 watts’ difference compared to the i9 9920x that is consuming 165 watts. The Blender demo also showed that the AMD Zen 2 3900x is six seconds faster than the i9 9920x, an 18 percent performance difference between both devices.
It’s for this reason that semiconductor analyst Kevin Cassidy is predicting that AMD will be at the top soon – if it’s not already – and highlighted all the specs mentioned above. He went on to say that this marks the first time that AMD has overtaken Intel in process-technology and performance lead in 50 years. Mathew Ramsay, another semiconductor analyst, is also echoing what everybody is saying following the recent reveal.
“Our team attended CEO Lisa Su’s Computex keynote Monday in Taipei that highlighted several 7nm products set to launch over the next six months across all of AMD’s served markets. We anticipate these products will drive above-consensus growth, share gains, margin expansion, and AMD share appreciation,” Ramsay said. With the AMD Zen 2 8-core series set to be outfitted for the PlayStation 5, it’s looking like AMD has unseated Intel with its new line up. It would be interesting to see how Intel will respond from this hit going forward. But one thing is certain, the competition between AMD and Intel will result in the end users benefitting in the long run, and the market further blossoming in the coming years.
