Katy Perry is scheduled to give birth to hers and Orlando Bloom's first daughter this summer, but an ABC executive still hopes that the hit singer will be returning as a judge in American Idol 2021.
Karey Burke, the president of ABC Entertainment, said that aside from Perry, she also hopes for everyone to be back on the show.
Perry's co-judges are Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan while handling the hosting chores is Ryan Seacrest. Bobby Bones serves as the show’s in-house mentor.
According to Deadline, Burke loves the music talent competition show, especially how it immediately adapted to the restrictions brought about by the coronavirus (CoVid-19) pandemic.
Perry herself had been vocal about returning to work after giving birth to her baby girl. She said it might be untraditional but certainly not unusual as there are a lot of working mothers out there.
The hitmaker added that she loves being on American Idol as it doesn’t feel like she’s working at all. Being a judge on the show gives her so much joy and she wants to remain in that state.
Perry’s return is very possible as American Idol auditions start by fall yet, although we are not sure if this will still be the case considering that the CoVid-19 is far from over yet.
Films and TV shows have just been allowed to resume production by California last June 12 following three months of being halted due to the pandemic.
CBS just announced the resumption of the shooting of its The Bold and the Beautiful show on June 17, of course, while adhering to the protocols for the pandemic.
The American Idol will most likely be able to handle it considering the unusual fashion it finished the whole 2020 season under the quarantine. It aired its finale last May with Just Sam being declared as the American Idol 2020 winner.
