‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ season 2 is currently in the works at Netflix following positive reviews. The next season will be based on author Daniel Handler’s next five books in the 13-book series.
The next season of the television adaptation of the children’s novel series ‘Lemony Skicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events’ may already be in the works at Netflix as hinted by author Daniel Handler (known better by his pen name Lemony Snicket).
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Handler admitted, “I am deep in season 2. I’ve been working in my own dining room with a team of writers I’m really loving on the next season, and we hope to get the go-ahead to do season 3, which… given how quickly young actors age and change, we’re trying to film everything as quickly as possible.”
He continued, “The second season is laid out to be 10 episodes for the next five books, so it ends on The Carnivorous Carnival, and the third season would be the rest of it.”
Season 1 covered the first four books of the 13-book series namely “The Bad Beginning,” “The Reptile Room,” “The Wide Window,” and “The Miserable Mill.” The incoming season is expected to take the show through book nine, “The Carnivorous Carnival.” The third and final season is expected finish off the entire book series.
During an interview with Inverse, actor Patrick Warburton confirmed Handler’s involvement in the second season saying, “I know that Daniel is hard at work writing right now, as is the whole team, so I would expect more great stuff. It looks like there might be some really fun opportunities to do something different and actually interact.” Warburton plays Lemony Snicket.
The series follows the misadventures of the Baudelaire orphans Violet (Malina Weismann), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and Sunny (Presley Smith) Baudelaire after they are placed under the protective custody of their “relative” count Olaf following the death of their parents.
‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ season 2 is currently in the works in Netflix but no release date has been announced as of the present. Season 1 premiered on Netflix on January 13, 2017 and starred Neil Patrick Harris, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, Joan Cusack, Catherine O’Hara, Don Johnson, Alfre Woodard, K. Todd Freeman, and Patrick Warburton.
