5 Horses to Know for This Year's Horse Racing

As we leave 2021, we reminisce about all the amazing races we have seen this year. 2021 has been a year littered with incredible races and fantastic horses. But, now we look to 2022 to see what the next year will have to offer for us. It is never too early to start looking into the horses that will be contending for next year's titles.

The first race upcoming in 2022 will be on March 18th- The Cheltenham Gold Cup. Followed by the Grand National on April 8th, the Kentucky Derby on May 7th, Preakness Stakes on May 21st, Belmont Stakes on June 11th, and the Melbourne Cup on November 1st. Start noting these dates down in your diary and looking for who may be contending in these events.

Getting a heads-up on the candidates for the races is useful. Not only to know when the race will be, where, and who will be contending, but also, so you can get some information on the horses, research their track record, their history, owners, and jockeys. It makes for the best way to get an educated and informed bet placement when it comes to racing day.

When considering the Breeders cup it is well worth looking at the 2021 contenders and winners such as Essential Quality, Knicks Go, Hot Rod Charlie, and Medina Spirit.

Who to track for the Kentucky Derby.

Different from the Breeders Cup, the Kentucky Derby has more information available about their 2022 contenders. There are no reasons why you cannot start tracking these contenders now. They have even listed the contenders, horses you will be hearing about on the journey to May 7ths 2022 Kentucky Derby.

It is worth keeping an eye on these horses and the contenders, and there are more being added all the time.

For the Kentucky Derby, the first ranking horse is Gunite, who has a high rating of 6.41. Their last start was 5th at the 2021 Champagne, and their next is November 5th at the Breeders Cup Juvenile. Keep an eye on this horse.

There is also Double Thunder at 6.11, Who came second in the 2021 Breeders’ Futurity, their next race will also be the same as Gunite, so seeing these two run on the same day should be interesting.

There is also Jack Christopher, Who came first in the 2021 Champagne. They will be running in the Breeders Cup Juvenile as well as Gunite and Double Thunder. Do not forget Stellar Tap, who came 7th in the Breeders’ Futurity. Other horses that are being noted for the Kentucky Derby also increase; Coinage, Wit, Pappacap, Angel Bleu, Major General, Tiz The Bomb, Native Trail, Legendary Lore, Costa Terra, American Sanctuary, and Big City Lights.

Keeping an eye on the horses that are racing in each individual race are a good way to make sure you make good bets at the tracks for each race. Of course, the Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup races are top-notch and should always be noted by any punter.

However, another wise way to bet is to know who the best race horses are right now. Knowing the top dogs in the horse racing world currently will help you to make good bets. Look out for these names, if you see them pop up in a race, betting on them is a good call, since these horses have hooves to create waves in history.

#1- Mystic Guide.

First up there is Mystic Guide. In 2021 Mystic Guide earned $7,400,000, had a total year winning percentage of 67, an overall winning percentage of 44 and a speed figure of 115! Then there is Knicks Go. Knicks Go earned a total of $4,204,140 in 2021. He also had a total yearly wins of 67%, with an overall winning percentage of 39% and a speed figure of 118!

Knicks go is 5 years old, and has an incredible history. On 10.02.2021 Knicks Go came first at the Lukas Classic Stakes. Knicks Go also came first at the Whitney-G1 (08.07.2021), the Cornhusker Handicap-G3 (07.02.2021), the Pegasus World Cup G-1 (01.23.2021), and many many more. Keep an eye on this horse for sure!

#3- Essential Quality

Essential Quality is another horse to keep a keen eye on. Essential Quality earned $2,880,000 in 2021, had a year winning percentage of 83%, and an overall win percentage of 89%! His speed figure is 109. While Essential Quality might have a lower speed figure than the other two on this list so far, his win rate is absolutely astounding! Keep an eye on Essential Quality in 2022.

#4- State of Rest

State of Rise earned $2,820,566 in 2021. With a year win percentage of 67 and an overall win percentage of 33. State of Rests’ speed figure is 101- it is safe to say State of Rest, is not in a state of rest at all!

#5- Medina Spirit

The Medina Spirit is our final important horse to look at. Medina Spirit earned $2,500,000 in 2021, has a year win percentage of 50, winning half their races, and an overall win rate of 56%. Medina Spirit also has a speed figure of 110.
