“2 Broke Girls,” a beloved comedy series featuring two friends as they navigate the 20s while working at a Brooklyn diner, has been officially cancelled by CBS. According to Deadline, the renewal negotiations between the network and Warner Bros TV have broken down, prompting to the show’s cancellation.
Lead stars Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings have confirmed the cancellation, and each posted their messages of gratitude to fans who have stayed with “2 Broke Girls” for six seasons. Dennings, who played Max in the series, thanked Behrs and told her Twitter followers, "We've had a wonderful 6 seasons as Max and Caroline and we thank all of you for watching and enjoying it along with us. We are so proud of our time on 2 Broke Girls and of all the things this experience has given us, the most treasured is our lifelong friendship."
Behrs, on the other hand, tweeted a GIF of her character hugging it out with co-star Dennings in their diner waitress uniforms, along with a caption that read, “Always. @OfficialKat.”
Before the news about the cancellation, Michelle Nader previously told TVLine that everyone connected with “2 Broke Girls” wanted to keep the show going to its seventh season. She said, “This is not the end for these girls. We’re not finished and we don’t want to be finished and I don’t think the audience is finished. Obviously there’s no guarantee that we will be back, but we did not write the episode as a series finale.”
