SAN JOSE, Calif., April 17, 2018 -- cPacket Networks, a leading provider of next-generation network performance monitoring, packet capture and packet broker solutions, today announced cStor 40G, a 40Gbps line rate packet capture solution that is integrated with cPacket’s cClear solution. cStor, a family of forensic storage arrays, captures and archives network packet traffic at line-rate speeds, enabling users to retrieve specific incidents during troubleshooting, and to search forensically across network layers L2-L7. With the extensive network visibility cStor provides, intermittent problems on the network become visible, and easier to understand and solve. Moreover, security incidents can provide context so the customer can meet their compliance requirements.
Despite the growing deployment of 10, 40 and 100Gbps networks, forensic inspection of packet flows at 40Gbps has lagged, jeopardizing network performance monitoring and leaving security risks on the network unexposed. And yet, the average total cost of a data breach in 2017 was $3.62 million, according to a study by the Ponemon Institute.
“The most vital information you can gather for forensic investigation is the relevant raw network traffic,” said Brendan O’Flaherty, CEO of cPacket Networks. “Only live traffic captures provide you with the detailed contents and header information you need for every packet that crosses your collection point during the capture period. Anything less is not a viable solution for monitoring performance or securing the network.”
Using cStor 40G, network administrators gain visibility into high-speed network performance, while enabling the forensic tools necessary to examine packet flows to detect security risks. 40Gbps capture for performance and security is critical, especially in highly regulated industries such as financial services and healthcare, and more broadly in datacenter operations of large enterprises, government and other mission-critical networks.
Availability
cStor 40G, an extension of cPacket’s proven traffic sensor, packet capture and packet broker solution suite, will be available this quarter, with a choice of one or two 40Gbps interfaces; sustained write to disk at 40Gbps, and 216TB storage capacity. To learn more, please visit www.cpacket.com.
