“Westworld” season 3’s filming can be delayed as the Paramount Ranch was destroyed by the Woolsey wildfires just last weekend. The said filming location served as a backdrop for many Western films and TV shows including “Westworld,” “Dr. Quinn,” “X-Files,” and “The Medicine Kid.”
But then again, it will rise up once more as officials from the National Park Service said in a statement that they are planning to rebuild and reopen the site so that Hollywood can continue filming there. They estimated that it would take at least two years to finish the set.
“The site is almost a total loss,” David Szymanski, superintendent of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, told The New York Times. “It’s easy to be somber. But there are some things that I’m hoping will allow us to be a little bit less somber.”
It was not just the “Westworld” season 3 filming set that was eaten up by the wildfires but homes of famous celebrities were also torched to the ground including properties owned by Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, Gerard Butler, Robin Thicke, and April Love Geary, Kim Basinger and more. Just like the homes of these celebs, the ranch set was a huge loss for the show.
Now, even though the production of “Westworld” season 3 has not yet begun, the filming schedule would be affected since they have to look for other set locations. As a result, the show’s premiere date will have to be moved as well.
At any rate, when “Westworld” season 3 returns, fans can expect many new things in the drama. Showrunners Jonathan and Lisa Joy revealed that drastic changes are coming as they are planning a new plot for the upcoming installment.
The husband and wife team told The Hollywood Reporter, “It's a radical shift. The hosts have a different version of mortality, a different outlook.”
They added, “They're existential. They span eons. And that's a fascinating level of story to engage in.”
Meanwhile, “Westworld” season 3 will continue with the storyline as Bernard and Dolores leave the Westworld-themed park. They will begin their new journey together and explore uncharted locations. Aaron Paul, the new cast addition, also spilled the beans and shared that it would be “dangerous and gory” third season.
“What is so great about ‘Westworld’ is it’s just so inventive and different and dangerous and gory, but this doesn’t shy away from that, this particular new addition,” he told Metro.
“Westworld” season 3’s airdate has been set yet but there were predictions that it will be out in early 2020.
