“Veep” Season 7 will be the series’s finale and this was confirmed by HBO. What’s more, this will be the shortest run since the show debuted in 2012.
As per The Wrap, “Veep” season 7 will only have seven episodes in all and it was HBO’s rep who revealed this information on Monday, Sept. 17. The show’s first installment concluded with eight episodes while the rest of the seasons all aired with 10 episodes. The reason for the cutback was not revealed and HBO declined to give an explanation for this decision.
Incidentally, “Veep season 7’s production was supposed to start last year; however, since its lead star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, was diagnosed with breast cancer in September last year, it was delayed. During the short break, the actress underwent treatment and she successfully came through it, TV Line reported.
Julie learned about her illness shortly after receiving her sixth Emmy award for her role as Selina Meyer in “Veep.” She shared her diagnosis on social media and although it was bad news, she said that she is lucky to be surrounded with supportive friends and family.
“1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one,” she posted on Instagram. “The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.”
It was learned that Julia completed her first round of chemotherapy in January, then she had surgery in February. Another set of chemotherapy sessions followed, and although she did not say anything about it, it was assumed that she is now in remission and doing great.
Finally, Julia is now back at work and “Veep” season 7 filming began in August. As for its premiere date, HBO programming president Casey Bloys shared at the Television Critics Association press tour in July that the series’s finale is arriving in spring 2019, Deadline reported.
