Uber Eats makes history after delivering food to International Space Station

Uber Eats made a new history after making a delivery in space. The event just showed even astronauts could enjoy food delivery even if they are thousands of miles away from the Earth’s ground.

As per Fox Business, it was Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese entrepreneur, who made the historic Uber Eats delivery as part of his 12-day orbit journey. Definitely, the company ditched its “thirty minutes, or it’s free” delivery guarantee promise for this order because it is obviously not applicable for this trip.

But then again, Uber Eats has just proven that it can be relied on when it comes to deliveries. In fact, it has helped out many restaurants in bringing their food to customers wherever they are. With the service, getting food delivered to homes has surely become easier, faster, and hassle-free.

It was reported that Maezawa joined forces with Uber Eats to make the company’s very first delivery to astronauts on the International Space Station. Maezawa blasted off to the ISS last week with his assistant and film producer. They will be spending 12 days aboard the giant orbiting lab.

“One small handoff for Yusaku Maezawa, one giant delivery for Uber Eats!” Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber chief executive officer, said in a press release. “We are over the moon to have helped make our first successful delivery to space. Our goal is to help people go anywhere and get anything, so we’re proud to serve the astronauts at the International Space Station. Yusaku Maezawa gets a thumbs up on this delivery, even though it took a bit longer than the usual 30 minutes to arrive.”

The first Uber Eats delivery to the orbit was made on Dec. 11 at about 9:40 a.m. EST. This was said to be exactly eight and a half hours after the Japanese billionaire took off for his trip out of space. He delivered a food package containing a beef bowl in sweet sauce, mackerel in miso soup, braised pork, and simmered chicken with bamboo shoots.

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to handle Uber Eats' first food delivery to space," Maezawa said after making the historical delivery.
