US under Trump Series: Many Americans like Trump’s travel ban order

US President Donald Trump’s executive orders banning immigrants from seven countries namely Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen has triggered a global outrage and sparked protest at airport and streets in the United States. However, a poll by Rasmussen, which correctly predicted the win for Donald Trump in the election, shows that many Americans, actually support the ban.

According to the survey,

  • 57 percent of the likely U.S. voters support the temporary ban until the federal government approves its ability to screen out potential terrorists. 33 percent are opposed to the ban and 10 percent remain undecided.
  • The refugee ban is supported by 82 percent Republicans and 59 percent of people who are not affiliated with either party.  Only 53 percent Democrats oppose the ban, while 34 percent are in favor of it.
  • Younger voters are less supportive of the ban.
  • Blacks oppose the ban in more numbers than Whites.

With Donald Trump doing exactly what he said would do, unlikely to debase his support and the protests are unlikely to deter the President from his campaign promises.
