US Presidential Election Series: Trump gains on Hillary

The very beginning of August was a disaster for Donald Trump and if he loses his race to the Whitehouse, probably a lot of people will blame early August for it, when the effects of Trump’s feud with a Gold Star family, who attacked him viciously over his Muslim ban proposals, led to wide controversies. The poll showed Hillary’s margin against Trump widened.

However, the history of polls shows that Trump has a habit of coming back and touch par with Hillary Clinton in polls. During the late primaries in March, polls were showing that Hillary was leading Trump by 11.2 percent. Within two months, Trump closed that gap and was up 0.2 points on Hillary but that didn’t stay long. By June, Hillary was again leading Trump by 5.8 points but after the Republican convention in July, Trump was up 1.1 points over Hillary and then came the feud with the Gold Star family and Trump’s rating dropped. Meanwhile, more scandals came out with regard to Clinton’s use of personal email servers and outright lies surrounding the investigations. The August feud pushed Trump’s ratings so low that polls showed Hillary was leading by almost 8 points and many forecasters predicted the end of Trump.

Just about two months remaining for the final contest, Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare is coming alive once more. Trump is gaining again. That 8 points lead in August has shrunk to just 3.3 points. And considering it as a four-way race the gap is just 2.4 points. This is very concerning for the Hillary Camp, since she tried his best to avoid controversies, received more funds and celebrity endorsements compared to Trump and has Outspent him by 5-6 times, yet he threatens her bid to reach the White House.
