The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has concluded its much awaited criminal probe on U.S. Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton has fallen short of recommending any charges against her despite sharp criticism. FBI concluded that Mrs. Clinton was extremely careless but recommended against prosecuting her since the investigators didn’t found any evidence that she intended to break the law. “Any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position … should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation,” James Comey, the FBI director said, but fell short of recommending prosecution as there has been historical precedence of criminal actions for similar offences.
James Comey said that the agency has found 110 emails that contained classified information that has been either received or sent via her private email server. That contradicts the previous statements made by Mrs. Clinton that she never transmitted information marked as classified. He also added that her behavior has also made it possible for “hostile actors” t gain access to her emails.
The Republican Presidential nominee, Donald Trump took to twitter to protest against the FBI’s decision. He tweeted, “FBI director said Crooked Hillary compromised our national security. No charges. Wow! #RiggedSystem,”
Mr. Comey added in the end, “What I can assure the American people is that this investigation was done competently, honestly and independently. No outside influence of any kind was brought to bear.”
While the Republicans might try to cash in on harsh criticism, FBI’s decision saves the Clinton from any legal jeopardy.
