This year’s Presidential election has been tainted by scandals and controversies. Republican nominee Donald Trump had his share of controversies, while Democrats share majority of the leaks and scandals. While Mr. Trump drew criticism and triggered controversies with his hardline commentaries and proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the country, counterattack on parents of a slain Muslim soldier, and immigrants, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Democratic Party, and President Obama have been hit by confidential email leaks that showed how the process was rigged in favor of Hillary, and private email server scandal.
Now, a fresh set of scandal has hit the Democratic Party and President Barrack Obama that the U.S. government paid a ransom of $400 million to Iran to rescue detained Americans and released 7 Iranian detainees.
A report from Wall Street Journal says that the Obama Administration secretly airlifted $400 million worth of cash and handed to Iran that coincided with the January release of four Americans detained by Iran. U.S. procured the money from the central bank of Netherlands and Switzerland.
The government has denied the allegations saying that it was a settlement of a previous claim; however the government spokesperson avoided answering the question whether the plane that was carrying the money landed before or after the release of the detained Americans. It was possible that the administration made it look like a ransom payment.
If proven, this could become the biggest scandal of Obama administration and could become the legacy of President Obama.
