US Job openings likely solid in November

The Conference Board is likely to report US Job openings for the month of November (data due 12th Jan) and expectations are for demand for new workers to have remained solid in the month.

Based on online job postings, the Bureau of Labor Statistics' tally of available positions likely rebounded by 137K to 5.52 million. This compares to an "all-time" high 5.67 million posted in July.

However, the projected November increase probably will prove short-lived. Data showed that online help-wanted advertisements edged lower in December, falling by 277K to 5.41 million and completely erasing their prior-month gain.

"Given the falloff in online activity, we would expect about a 100K decline to 5.42 million in the government's year-end report." said Societe Generale in a report
