UNICEF to present ‘Donercoin’ at London Blockchain Week 2017

Blockchain Week London’ will take place from 20th to 26th January 2017 that will kick off with a ‘Blockchain Hackathon’. The event will see an eclectic mix of speakers from the blockchain community including representatives from UNICEF, who will present Donercoin’, its blockchain solution to digitize donations and create transparency in global aid.

The Hackathon will take place from January 20-22 that will be followed by the third annual ‘Blockchain Conference London’ from January 23-24. The final days of the event will have ‘Blockchain and DLT Workshops’ and other partner events.

“Despite political uncertainty around the UK’s position in the global economy, London continues to excel in fintech innovation and distributed ledger technology in particular,” Luis Carranza, Founder of London Blockchain Week, said. “As the FCA adds a number of blockchain start-ups to its regulatory sandbox, 2017 is set to be a seminal year for Blockchain/DLT as key players across the fintech ecosystem, from large corporates to innovative start-ups, drive a fundamental shift in how businesses will function over the coming decade.”

The conference will also see Bobby Lee CEO and co-founder of BTC China (BTCC), detailing China’s influence on blockchain development in relation to the European markets. The second day of the conference will see Tom Wilkinson of the UK Government Home Office, who will discuss on blockchain potentials to revolutionize the way local government interacts with citizens.

Other eminent speaker panel includes Nick Johnson, Software Engineer at Ethereum; Eddy Travia, CEO of Coinsilium; Griffin Anderson, Director of blockchain accounting at ConsenSys; John Clippinger, Big Data Working Group Member at World Economic Forum; among others.

The initial Hackathon will be held in partnership with Day One VC, The Government of Papua New Guinea and the Open Bank Initiative, where developers will be challenged with creating blockchain concepts to help local, regional and national governments assist their citizens better.

The final workshops on blockchain and DLT aims at people who would like a deeper dive into the technology, on topics including, Smart Contracts, Ethereum and BigchainDB, to name a few.
