UNICEF seeks blockchain technology lead

The United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), a UN program, has announced that it is seeking top-notch developer and consultant to research on emerging technologies like blockchain and smart contracts.

According to UNICEF’s terms of reference, the prospective candidate will be expected to support research, consulting and prototyping applications for humanitarian purposes in blockchain technology.

"We want to grow our knowledge and thinking, so we want to bring someone on who can help lead the charge on thinking, researching and creating use cases for how blockchain will play a role in UNICEF's work," Dana Zucker, a representative from UNICEF told CoinDesk.com.

The position is based out in New York and the developer and consultant will explore and research on cash remittance, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) and prototype potential solutions for identity, apart from blockchain.

In terms of the timeframe, the candidate is expected to build a blockchain prototype for distributed non-sovereign id and cash remittance by the end of the 3rd and 6th month respectively, after joining.

The candidate will work with a group of entrepreneurs, developers, research scientists and designers on a wide variety of projects. The applicant must be experienced in high volume data stream; interface design; API development; processing technologies; database systems like Mongo, SQL, HDFS; cloud hosting like Azure, good-to-have: Amazon Web Services among others.
