U.K. manufacturing output likely to have risen in September

The manufacturing output of the U.K. is expected to have grown again in September. The projection for the month of September is based on the preliminary estimates for September, which is included as part of the initial estimate of GDP for the quarter.

Therefore, ONS estimate for the month of September is that the industrial production has declined 0.1 percent sequentially after upwardly revising August’s figures to -0.2 percent from -0.4 percent. The quarterly data for the manufacturing output will be given in the same release. On that basis, the August manufacturing number has not been revised. According to Societe Generale, the figure suggest for September is growth of 0.4 percent month-on-month.

“We take these numbers as our forecasts, i.e. IP -0.2% mom, manufacturing +0.4% mom”, added Societe Generale.
