Turkey’s industrial production grows sequentially in October

Turkey’s industrial production, on a seasonally and calendar adjusted basis, rose 3.7 percent sequentially in October. Within the industry’s sub sectors, mining and quarrying index rose 0.6 percent, whereas manufacturing index was up 4.1 percent. Electricity, gas, air conditioning and steam supply index was up 2.9 percent in sequential terms in October.

On a year-on-year basis, industrial production dropped 0.4 percent. Within the sub sectors of the industry, mining and quarrying index dropped 0.4 percent, whereas manufacturing index rose 1.7 percent. Gas, electricity, steam and air conditioning supply index was up 5.7 percent in October on a year-on-year basis.

Within main industrial groupings, the biggest rise was seen in non-durable consumer goods. According to the main industrial groupings classification, the biggest rise was seen in non-durable consumer goods, which rose 6.6 percent sequentially. Within manufacturing industry, the biggest rise was seen in production of basic pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical preparations, a rise of 20.6 percent. This was followed by manufacture of other transport equipment by 12.9 percent and manufacture of fabricated metal products that rose 12.4 percent.

Meanwhile, repair and installation of machinery and equipment dropped 4.3 percent, followed by decline in production of electrical equipment by 4.1 percent and in manufacture of machinery and equipment by 2 percent sequentially in October.
