U.S. President Donald Trump is set to headline the opening ceremony of a major event celebrating America's 250th anniversary after several scheduled musical performers withdrew from the program, according to reports.

The celebration is part of the Great American State Fair, a 16-day event scheduled to take place from June 25 through July 10, 2026, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Organized by Freedom 250, the event is designed to honor the nation's semiquincentennial with state exhibits, entertainment venues, rides, educational displays, and cultural attractions stretching from the U.S. Capitol to the Washington Monument.

However, the fair's planned concert series has faced significant challenges following multiple artist cancellations. Bret Michaels, lead vocalist of the rock band Poison, recently became the fifth performer to exit the lineup. Michaels stated that the event no longer appeared to be the nonpartisan celebration he initially believed it would be.

While organizers have not publicly disclosed specific reasons behind the withdrawals, the growing number of cancellations has raised concerns about the future of the concert program and the event's overall entertainment schedule.

Danielle Alvarez, an adviser to Freedom 250, told The Washington Post that President Trump will officially open the nationwide celebration during a ceremony on June 24. The event is expected to mark the beginning of a series of activities commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Trump also addressed the issue on Truth Social, suggesting that a large-scale rally could replace the concert series if additional performers decide not to participate. The president emphasized his ability to attract large crowds and proposed an "America Is Back Rally" on the National Mall as an alternative attraction.

Freedom 250, a public-private partnership established with support from the White House and federal agencies, is overseeing the anniversary celebrations. At this stage, organizers have not confirmed whether replacement artists will be added to the lineup or whether Trump's rally proposal will move forward.

As preparations continue for the America 250 celebration, questions remain about how the event's entertainment program will evolve in the weeks leading up to its launch.
