Trump announces upcoming withdraw from TPP on first day in office

In a small video, US President-elect Donald Trump laid out some of his for the early days and updated the American people on the transition process. He shares some of his ideas and plans which can be put to work on the very first day in his office. He plans to inform the Pacific Rim countries that signed the Trans-Pacific Partnership on his very first day in office that the US will pull out of the l trade deal which was a signature policy of Barack Obama. Trump called the deal a disaster again in the video.

Last week, President-elect met With Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who could have real hard time in Japan as his parliament already ratified the deal. After Mr. Trump vowed to withdraw from the deal, a visibly frustrated Japanese Prime Minister said that without the United States TPP has no meaning. Similar concerns were voiced by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. TPP includes 12 countries around the world, some of which have already ratified the deal.

Mr. Trump said that he would go for bilateral trade deals instead of TPP. He said, “I am going to issue our notification of intent to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a potential disaster for our country, Instead, we will negotiate fair, bilateral trade deals that bring jobs and industry back onto American shores.”

He said the core principle of his policy is putting America first. He added, ““Whether it’s producing steel, building cars, or curing disease, I want the next generation of production and innovation to happen right here, in our great homeland America – creating wealth and jobs for American workers.”
