The epic fight between the now-recovered identity of Ken Kaneki and Kishou Arima may be emotional for fans who adore the almost paternal relationship between the two. But fans hoping that Kaneki can still save Arima despite his wounds in “Tokyo Ghoul:re” season 2 episode 3 will have to accept that the former squad leader wants to die.
Fans will remember that Arima had decided to finish himself off because Kaneki refused to continue fighting his former mentor. According to OtakuKart, “Tokyo Ghoul:re” season 2 episode 3 will open with Ken Kaneki rushing to the dying Arima's side. Arima will reveal to Kaneki that he is also a half-ghoul.
Fans of Arima who are hoping he survives in “Tokyo Ghoul:re” season 2 episode 3 will also get to know that because of Arima's half-ghoul status, he is already plagued by different sicknesses. This makes the decision to sacrifice and kill himself an easier decision for Arima.
In “Tokyo Ghoul:re” season 2 episode 3, Arima also tells Kaneki that despite the former squad leader taking his own life, he would want Kaneki to take credit for his death. Arima tells Kaneki that this would be his legacy after leading a life that he hates so much so that has focused on consumption. Arima also tells Kaneki that while Kaneki may be confused about why Arima wants him to claim responsibility for his death, the future will reveal its importance.
Fans of the manga may be familiar with the fact that Arima, due to his half-ghoul heritage, has always been a subversive despite working for the CCG. Arima himself is known as the One-Eyed King – a title that he hopes to pass on to Ken Kaneki in “Tokyo Ghoul:re” season 2 episode 3. This may be why Arima believes it is important that Ken Kaneki will be known as his killer to eventually direct him onto a more heroic path.
Fans looking forward to seeing the aftermath of the Cochlea raid and the effect of Arima's death on Ken Kaneki can catch “Tokyo Ghoul:re” season 2 episode 3 when it airs tonight, Oct. 23. Fans who prefer to watch the series online can also stream the show on Crunchyroll.
