Tinder Makes It Easier To Stalk Matches, Instagram And Spotify Updates Included

The hugely popular dating app Tinder just announced the launch of a new feature, which provides users with more information about the people that they match with. Called “Feed,” the feature basically allows users to get details such as recently added photos or posts on the Instagram accounts of their Matches. This has led some to note how it helps with stalking people on the app.

According to a blog post by Tinder explaining what the new feature is all about, Feed is essentially intended to give people more to talk about with those they match with. The tab will appear on the Messages, which will include information such as favorite songs or artists based on Spotify usage and such.

This is great in theory because even online dating can hit a snag without the right conversation pieces to use. It’s just a matter of seeing how the users will actually apply the service.

“Feed brings your matches to life by delivering a visual and interactive experience that helps you spark conversation with the people you want to meet most. It’s an exciting new way to see more of what someone is all about by giving you a true glimpse into their world—their passions, their personality, their latest adventure—all leading to better conversations and deeper connections,” the post reads.

In practice, of course, this could be seen as a huge step towards a violation of privacy for users, TechCrunch notes. Offering a huge window into the social media affairs of people using the app, especially with regards to recent updates on their activity might make it easier for stalkers to be their creepy selves.

There’s also the possibility of some users potentially settling for actually following their matches online instead of encouraging them to meet in real life, as Tinder is intended to do. After all, a lot of people use dating apps simply because they can’t deal with actual humans.
