History’s reality TV series that documents the efforts of a new generation of treasure hunters who are looking for the legendary treasure on Oak Island in Nova Scotia is set to return. “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8 will come back with Rick, Marty Lagina and their team.

They will continue their attempts in solving the 224-year-old mystery of the gems believed to have been buried underneath the grounds of Oak island. Based on the progress of the team, they seem to be getting closer to finding the treasures as well as revealing the truth about why and who hid the riches there.

The new plan to bring the vault to the surface

Fans are hoping that there would be a breakthrough in “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8 since the finale of the seventh season teased that they will start digging on the Money Pit. The Lagina brothers and their team talked about what they will do next and divulged that they will not be bringing big cans anymore.

This is because they believed the vault has shifted deeper into the ground since it has been buried for a long time. The soil could have softened too that it is possible the treasure vault had sunk.

The previous attempts to find the treasures may have also caused the vault to slid down since diggings may have pushed it further down. With its new position, using the can will not be effective as they need to dig further than 50 feet.

Since this is the case, the team revealed that they are planning to freeze the ground in “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8 to get the solid out of the way. This will allow them to dig deeper and the process is easier. They called this project the Big Dig and funding for this has been discussed too.

Update on the on-going works on the Oak Island

Filming on the island began as early as June as equipment and even filming crews have been spotted by the locals. Despite the lockdown, it seems that the show was able to secure permits so they can resume the diggings and filming for “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8.

In a new update, it was shared by a resident that the road in front of the swamp is being expanded in a big way. Fans commented that this is probably to accommodate heavier and bigger machines and equipment.

It was said that a huge crew has also arrived and this appears to be the biggest number of staff to ever work on Oak Island. Everyone is said to be practicing safe COVID-19 protocols and everyone is wearing a mask.

In any case, Choice Drilling is still in the vicinity of the Money Pit and they are digging there. Works are also on-going in the swamp. Billy Gerhardt, the heavy equipment operator, has also returned and worked every day.

Airdate

Meanwhile, fans will be thrilled to know that History already set a date for the premiere of “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8. It will return on Nov. 10 at 9 p.m. on History.
