As the Lagina brothers get closer to unearthing the vault that is believed to contain treasures, fans can’t wait for “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8. In the previous installment, the viewers were thrilled with the major digging as the operation user bigger cans revealed positive signs that there is something buried deep down the earth in Oak Island.

The Lagina brothers and their team were able to get pieces of wood and there are even metal sheets and some tools that may have been used to build the Money Pit and tunnels that lead to it. They also think that they have gotten some big chunks of wood from booby traps designed to keep treasure hunters away and never get their hands on the valuables.

The fabled treasures of Oak Island

The hunt for the gems has been going on for more than 200 years now but no one from the treasure hunters and explorers has ever found them yet. As to who buried the valuables on Oak Island, there are various theories and the most popular one is that it was left there by Captain Kidd.

Other theories include the fact that the treasures were from a sunken ship apparently owned by pirates. All the theories are actually interesting and the clues are revealing not just the possible location of the vault but bits and pieces from history. It was even said that this latest expedition could possibly change history because they are finding artifacts that seem to suggest stories that are very different from what were recorded in books.

The Laginas get closer to the treasures

Now, Rick and Marty Lagina are convinced they are getting closer to unearthing what the Money Pit holds. In “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8, they will be using a new strategy to dig deeper into the ground.

During the meeting in the last episode of the seventh season, the team talked about not using the cans anymore. They have mentioned about the Big Dig that they intend to carry out in “The Curse of Oak Island” season 8.

The reason for this project was explained and it was because they can only reach a certain distance using a can. They want to go farther than 50 feet deep down as they think the vault in the Money Pit was moved far down due to water and other natural causes. The earlier digs could also be a reason why the vault was pushed down.

Latest update

“The Curse of Oak Island” season 8 has no release date as of this time since its renewal was not even issued by History yet. However, there are signs that filming on the island has already begun as early as June.
