The announcement of “The Blacklist” season 6 premiere date also allows fans to speculate when the first official trailer might arrive. Meanwhile, the guessing game about the identities of the “fake Red” (James Spader) and Liz’s (Megan Boone) real father continues.
The latest season ended with a bang and a revelation that led fans to question everything they know about the series from the first season. So seeing the first official trailer for “The Blacklist” season 6 is more exciting than ever. Luckily, fans likely do not have to wait that long now that the show is confirmed to return in less than a couple of months.
And since it will air on an all-new timeslot, NBC might want to take enough time to promote the show before it premieres. With that considered, the “The Blacklist” season 6 official trailer is likely to be released in December.
The most anticipated running storyline in “The Blacklist” season 6 revolves around the real identity of Red. The season 5 finale revealed he is not the true Raymond Reddington which, to many fans, might have automatically meant he is not Liz’s real father as well.
However, fans recently explored another possibility for “The Blacklist” season 6 that says, while the whole Reddington identity has been faked by Red, he could still be the real father of Liz. A fan suggested on a Reddit discussion that Red dealt with a long list of very intelligent characters from the time he presumably stolen the Reddington identity. So it is somewhat questionable that Red was able to trick all those powerful men and women since the ‘80s.
This theory leads fans to believe that Reddington is a completely made-up identity that Red had started using way back when he was still at the Naval Academy. The same fan also suggested that “The Blacklist” season 6 might have more to reveal about the matching of the DNA of Red and the burned set of bones.
“The Blacklist” season 6 begins with a special two-hour premiere episode. The show returns on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 on NBC.
