Taco Bell revealed that their Mexican Pizza will return on May 19, 2022, with loyalty members being able to get one early, starting on May 17.
The fast-food company said adjustments to the menu item have been made behind the scenes, citing the chain's original justifications for removing the product in November 2020.
They've streamlined processes to keep kitchens running swiftly, changed ingredient procurement, and revised packaging to reduce waste.
Mark King, Taco Bell's CEO, stated that Mexican Pizza is at the top of their menu.
Taco Bell credited Krish Jagirdar, a Mexican Pizza lover who started the Change.org petition that finally gathered over 200,000 signatures, as a crucial participant in the pizza's return.
According to Jagirdar, many Indian-Americans who grew up vegetarian had limited access to the 'fun' fast food, so Taco Bell became a bridge to belonging in American culture for many kids who grew up in immigrant households.
Outside of the US, Taco Bell will make the Mexican Pizza available at participating restaurants in Aruba, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.
