“Sword Art Online” season 3, also known as the Alicization arc, have more stories to tell. Luckily, fans will only have to wait until October to see the new episodes that could be a total of 24.
The first half of “Sword Art Online” season 3 concluded in late March on a major cliffhanger. The Underworld is shattering, and Kirito defeated the Administrator and got reunited with Alice. But he also lost a great deal in the process. He watched Eugeo die while he also ended up badly injured to the extent of losing an arm.
It was previously confirmed by producer Aniplex that the entire “Sword Art Online” season 3 could take four cours worth of content. That could be an equivalent of 48 to 52 episodes. There is a big chance that the second part of the Alicization arc, also dubbed as “War of Underworld,” will have another 24-episode run.
Producers have not yet revealed a specific date of continuation for “Sword Art Online” season 3. But they have promised fans that new episodes will be released starting in October. Based on the events covered in the first half of the Alicization arc, the next half of the series will be covering events from light novel volumes 15 to 18.
The second part of “Sword Art Online” season 3 will also pick up from Kirito’s last contact with the real world. As it turned out, even the Ocean Turtle is facing an immense threat, and it could greatly affect how he performs in the virtual universe. But on a good note, he will have Alice devotedly helping him process what will happen next.
In the first half of “Sword Art Online” season 3 Eugeo and Kirito started with the goal of reaching the 100th floor of the Central Cathedral and to bring back Alice and her memories. In the upcoming episodes later this year, it appears that their (Alice and Kirito) next mission is to find the World End Altar.
