Switzerland's producer price inflation rises less-than-expected in September

In a report, Switzerland's Federal Statistical Office said that producer price inflation in Switzerland rose less-than-expected in September. The index has been falling since October 2013.

Data released on Monday showed that Switzerland's producer and import prices edged down 0.1 percent year-over-year in September, slower than August's 0.4 percent drop. Analysts had expected Swiss PPI to rise 0.2 percent last month.

On a monthly basis, producer and import prices rose 0.3 percent in September, more than expectations for a 0.1 percent rise. The rise was in contrast to a 0.3 percent drop in the prior month.

Producer prices remained flat in September from a year ago, while rose 0.1 percent, month-over-month. Import prices slid 0.4 percent yearly and climbed 0.6 percent from a month earlier.

USD/CHF was 0.88 percent higher on the day, trading at 0.9956 at around 1040 GMT. At that time FxWirePro's Hourly US Dollar Spot Index was at 51.5512, while Hourly CHF Spot Index was at 25.4404, which does not indicate any clear directional bias.
