Swedish producer prices remain unchanged in May

Swedish producer prices remained unchanged in May on a year on year basis. On the export market, prices rose 0.5 percent, whereas it rose 0.3 percent on the import market. On the domestic market, prices dropped 0.6 percent. Producer prices on the domestic and import markets together dropped 0.2 percent from April to May, noted Statistics Sweden.

On a sequential basis, increased prices for motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and pulp, paper and paperboard contributed to the upturn on the export market. On the other hand, raised prices for food products and computers, electronic and optical products contributed to the upturn on the import market. However, the upturn was offset by lower crude oil price. On the domestic market, a seasonal decrease in price for district heating added to the downturn.

Producer prices, on a year-on-year basis, have risen by 7.2 percent in May, which is the same as in April. Prices on the export and the import market rose 9.2 percent and 8.4 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, on the domestic market, prices were up by 5.1 percent in the same period. Prices for domestic supply were up by 6.7 percent as compared with May last year.
