“Super Mario Maker 2” is expected to be in stores in over a month. However, details on pre-order deals and bundles are still unavailable in some regions leading to the question if it is worth buying ahead of its retail launch.
For fans in the United States, “Super Mario Maker 2” can now be pre-ordered through various channels. However, they would easily find that the only the standard edition of the game is listed.
Online stores of US-based retailers only list the base copy of the game for $59.99. There are no indications that purchasing “Super Mario Maker 2” this early would entitle players to some physical or digital freebies.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo UK online store currently offers more pre-order options. The cheapest bundle is priced at £49.99 and includes a copy of “Super Mario Maker 2” plus the Carpenters Pad and Pencil set. According to the product description, the add-ons are meant to encourage players to draft their “Super Mario” levels first before building them on the game.
Nintendo UK also lists a “Super Mario Maker 2” bundled with the Acorn Plains Diorama set. The latter includes figurines of classic “Super Mario” characters including Mario, the fanged mushroom Goomba, Bob-omb, the staple Mario red pole, and green warp pipe. The product listing encourages fans to get this set so they can “create the ultimate Super Mario level” at home. This bundle is offered at £59.99.
The list of “Super Mario Maker 2” items on Nintendo UK online store, however, does not seem to offer the copy of the game alone. But fans can separately purchase the diorama set, with three design variations, for £19.99 each. It is still unclear whether or not these bundles and collectibles will be sold the U.S. and other regions.
“Super Mario Maker 2” is promised to launch in June and will be exclusively available on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has already released the game’s official trailer but it is yet to fully update the official website and the official cover art.
