Here is everything we know about the upcoming "Stranger Things" Season 5.

“Stranger Things” Season 5 is underway and avid followers of the show could not help but wonder what could transpire in the imminent new installment. There is no denying that the said Netflix series is a world sensation. Since 2016, fans have been excitedly anticipating the release of each new installment of The Duffer Brothers' fascinating horror and '80s nostalgia-fest.

Unfortunately, “Stranger Things” Season 5 will be the final season of the Netflix drama, with Vecna returning to torture the cherished main characters. Despite Eddie Munson and other characters' sacrifices, evil seeks vengeance. Here is everything we know about the upcoming “Stranger Things” Season 5.

Stranger Things’ Season 5 Release Date

Unfortunately, “Stranger Things” Season 5 has yet to receive an official release date, per Dexerto. David Harbour initially stated in an interview with Collider that Season 5 of the program would begin filming in the middle of 2023.

These plans, however, were thwarted. “Stranger Things” producers, The Duffer Brothers, took to Twitter to confirm that the show had halted development in solidarity with the Writers Guild strike. “Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out,” the duo penned on Twitter.

On the bright side, “Stranger Things” Season 5 could be back on track shortly, now that the WGA strikes have finished and SAG-AFTRA is in talks to find solutions. So, avid followers of the show should keep their fingers crossed.

Stranger Things’ Season 5 Cast

So far, it appears that the majority of the core characters will return for “Stranger Things” Season 5. This includes Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Noah Schnapp as Will, Natalia Dyer as Nancy, Joe Keery as Steve, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan, Maya Hawke as Robin, Winona Ryder as Joyce and David Harbour as Hopper.

While it's likely that Sadie Sink will return as Max, given that she was in a coma by the end of Season 4, it's uncertain in what capacity she'll appear in the forthcoming fifth installment. It also appears that fan favorite Eddie Munson, played by Joe Quinn, will remain dead and will not return for “Stranger Things” Season 5.

Stranger Things’ Season 5 Spoilers

The Duffer Brothers revealed to Variety in their Showrunners Sitdown segment that "the only thing we don't delve into in Volume 2 is Upside Down lore." “Stranger Things” Season 5 appears to flesh out the demonic underworld even more, as "a lot of those answers for the Upside Down is really what the basis of Season 5 is about."

For starters, the Upside Down is home to monsters like the Mind Flayer and Season 4 baddie Vecna, but fans have been eager to learn more about its origins. Furthermore, it appears that “Stranger Things” Season 5 will be the most dramatic season yet.

Series creators stated in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that they made Netflix execs cry as they read through the first script for the upcoming season. “We did get our executives to cry, which I felt was a good sign that these executives were crying. The only other times I’ve seen them cry were like budget meetings,” Matt shared.
